Ashlyn has the flu.  They are saying it is an epidemic. Several schools in the OKC area have closed in the last couple weeks.  It is mild but lasts about 5 days.  She is a trooper, she wants to play so badly but she just doesn't feel well.  She still can't make up her mind about whether she wants to play soccer or gymnastics, so i told her today we are sticking with gymnastics for a while.  The softball coach said that Joslyn is probably out of luck as far as finding a team to play on in Choctaw since by this age the teams are all pretty well established.  So, we might try the surrounding area.  Lilly had a golf meeting at school that she and Jacob attended tonight.  they will practice at Choctaw Creek.
I forgot I had written back in October, here I go again. Joslyn(10)  is NOT doing cheerleading, she is trying out softball.  Ashlyn decided she wanted to be a soccer "pro" so I signed her up a week ago, then she declared she wants to stay with gymnastics and not be a soccer "pro." Now she wants me to buy gymnastic equipment and "coach" her at home.  She is intense, that is for sure.  She has been practicing her cart-wheels in the living room, only crashing into the dog cage once, having a total melt down Friday night because she was so tired and couldn't get the cart-wheel just right.  By Sunday evening, she was flying through the air with legs straight up, usually making a feet first landing.  We are trying to find a dance studio for Jordyn.  She is not competitive, she is a bit of  a free spirit and dancing might be fun for her.  Lilly is going to do golf for the Middle School this spring today: we went to church, the kids are in new classes and the

The beginning...again

10/05/17 Blogging feels a lot like work.  But I really want to remember the little things that happen everyday, all the things I will wish I could look back on.  The everyday stuff is mostly what life is, what I take for granted, what I think is inconsequential but that i will miss.  Ashlyn is a self-proclaimed "rock star."  She hates to be called cute.  She is very active.  She loves to climb up the door frames.  Lilly is playing trumpet. She has been practicing for the honor band auditions in November.  She got second chair in band and was voted second best out of the entire band.  not too shabby. I think it inspired her to keep playing and practicing.  Her friend Hannah de Gaston (mom is my friend from High School in  Colorado, Melanie formerly Stimpson) also plays trumpet. Lilly goes to school at Choctaw Middle School.      We started building our house in Deer Field.  The dozer work is done.  We pick out windows and doors next Wednesday.  Pretty excited.  Lilly and Jos

My dad made this amazinzg swingset in Colorado then drove it down here and assembled it for us.  It was awesome having him here.  The swing is too tall for the girls to pump themselves.  When I push them I have to grab the seat and let it pull me off the ground so I can give them a good push.  It makes me laugh ,especially when I miss.  Jacob likes to twist up the swing and let it go until they can barely hang, laughing so hard there is no noise and drool coming out the side of their mouths.  There is a big pole to slide down.

When Jordyn was three weeks old we found blood in her diaper.  She was diagnosed allergic to cow milk.  So I learned how to cook without it and I got my first goat on Valentine's Day 2010.   It was so traumatic to see blood in a diaper and there was such a change in her behavior after she felt better, that I took the precaution of not eating dairy for a few weeks before and after Ashlyn was born.  Then I had some ice cream, a lot, for a few days , wondering if I was worrying about nothing, because what are the odds that two out of four would have problems.  Well, a few days ago Ahslyn had blood in her diaper.  But, I am prepared and it is pretty easy baking and cooking without dairy.  I enjoy cooking and baking most of the time and I think we eat healthier because I have to plan ahead and not just make nachos or grilled cheese.  It has opened up the world of alternative cooking and we make garbanzo flour muffins, barley and oat flour pancakes (which are amazing) and teff bi
